In a recent NLRB (National Labor Relations Board) decision, franchee employees are considered "joint employee" with the franchisor. In other words, for the purposes of wage & hour laws, the NLRB decided that the employees at a locally owned and operated franchise location -- say a McDonald's or Wendy's restaurant -- are also employees of the frachising company (ie: McDonald's or Wendy's in this example).
